Film can demonstrate humanity in more detailed ways which pictures and words can not describe. My personal interest in film falls to the horror story and the dark side of humanity. one movie that give the sharpest impression is called 'Don't Breathe', directed by Fede Álvarez.
The story tells about 3 burglars decided to steal cash from a old war veteran's house, they knew he has the cash as the reparation of his daughter's death. They thought it will be easy do done because this old man is fully blind, but things did not go as expectation since the old man almost kill all 3 of them. This film does not contain any supernatural elements, but only shows the role of human nature.
I was motivated by this movie for several reasons. I'm interest in horror movies and want to create films of horror story that doesn't necessarily has to be supernatural, but most of other movies I have watched is scary based on the apparent of ghost, although it can result in marvelous or uncanny, the supernatural has to be there to begin with. Thus I did not have anything to referent until I watched this one, it is a successful exception that fills the scariness though out the whole story without having to present any scary creature.
Another reason motivated me is that this movie was actually produced in low cost compare to those hollywood blockbusters, there is no super star in act, and most of the plots are taken place inside the "house". This confirms to me that making a good film doesn't aways has to be extravagant , if the story is interesting, the shooting is creative with the passion of the producer, the work can also come out impressing and meaningful.
My goal for this course is be able to demonstrate the conflict and issue of people by film, to work with group mates as a team, and hopefully will get a chance to add horror elements in the future projects.
